History: The Princeton Public Library was established in 1914 by the Princeton Women’s Club in a small three room house in the center of town. Beginning in the 1930’s, the library was housed in the basement of the Memorial building, and in 1968 it moved to a new building located on Center Street. That structure served the community until 2010, when once again, services outgrew the facility. A four year fund raising project culminated in the opening of the New Princeton Library in the Old Princeton Post Office on August 28, 2010. The building more than doubled the space of the previous location, and also serves as the community center for the residents of Mercer County. The Princeton Public Library now serves 12,600 residents in Princeton and Mercer County.
